Sabine Rueckauer Mormon Athlete

Sabine Rückauer or Rueckauer is a Germany ice hockey player. Playing defender, she competed with the German women’s national team at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. She competed at the 1994 World Cup in Lake Placid and at the 1999 World Cup in Finland. Her team won four consecutive national ice hockey titles.

She was born on April, 13, 1977, in Duesseldorf, Germany. She set foot on the ice for the first time at age ten. She was German Champion in women’s ice hockey many times.

She retired in February 2012 after a disagreement with her coach, but returned for the 2012-2013 season. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her sister Stefanie Wartosch-Kurten also played on the national team.
