Brickelle Bro is a Paralympian swimmer who competes in the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 400-meter freestyle as well as the 100-meter butterfly. She competed in the 2012 London Paralympics, placing fifth in the 400-meter freestyle, and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics in four events, placing seventh in the 400-meter freestyle.
Bro was born on November 11, 1996, in Provo, Utah. She was born with fibular hemimelia and amniotic band syndrome, which resulted in the amputation of both of her legs below the knee. In high school in Littleton, Colorado, she set American records in the 1000-yard and 1650-yard freestyle. As a freshman at Stanford University, she broke the 1650-yard record again.
She created “My Feet Don’t Stink,” a foundation to empower young girls who have an impairment. In May 2011 she received the John Lynch Foundation Exceptional Star of the Year Award.
Bro is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
