Jarom Jordan is one of the hosts of BYU Sports Nation, a sports talk show broadcast on BYUtv and BYUradio, created in 2013. In addition to hosting, Jordan is a producer and play-by-play analyst.
He aspired to be a sports broadcaster since he was a child. At six years old, he wrote play-by-play for a Portland Trail Blazers game.[1]
Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and broadcast journalism from Brigham Young University. As a student he became involved with BYU Broadcasting by volunteering on productions in a sports broadcasting class. He called his first game—softball—on March 30, 2006. Scott Hill, his boss at that time, said of him, “My goal was to train up the next generation of sportscasters, and I thought Jarom was ready. My bosses weren’t sure, but we let him try. He won everyone over and quickly became a main voice on BYUtv sports.”[2]
Jordan took the opportunity for a full-time job at BYU as the producer for True Blue, the pre- and post-game shows and all other sports specials, like the Y Awards and Boomshakalaka. Most graduates go on to different markets to work their way up in the industry. Later, when senior coordinating producer Mikel Minor was looking for someone to cohost BYU Sports Nation, it became obvious that Jordan was the right person to cohost with Linton. So Jordan stepped back into the talent side of broadcasting.
Jordan attributes his chemistry with cohost Spencer Linton to their time working for a small station in Provo called iProvo. They were in the same sports broadcasting class at BYU.
He and his wife, Whitney, have a daughter, Venna. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
