Tobias Bradford is a foreign service officer with the United States Department of State. His assignments have included Public Affairs Counselor in San Salvador; Deputy Public Affairs Officer in Amman, Jordan, where he served from 2014 to 2017; Public Affairs Officer in Maputo, Mozambique; Deputy Immigrant Visa Chief in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and Public Diplomacy Officer in Moscow, Russia.
He speaks fluent Arabic, Russian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, and is conversant in French.
Prior to joining the Department of State, he worked in the private sector where he ran a large language and communications training center and taught university workshops in communications.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Russian language and communication studies from Brigham Young University, and a master’s degree in business administration and international development.
Bradford is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was born in Utah and grew up with his father in the foreign service. He has lived in over 20 countries. He remembers when Church president Howard W. Hunter stayed in his family’s home in Egypt, and he distinctly recalls a General Authority fireside in his living room.
- “That was one of the very first times my heart was really pricked,” says Bradford. “I will always remember that feeling. . . . A lot of it was because of how close and intimate that setting was. . . . It’s something probably few people have the chance to do.”[1]
Bradford, his wife, and children enjoy living abroad.
