Sarah Jane Wright Mormon artist

Sarah Jane Knell Wright is a textile designer, children’s book illustrator, and the owner of Sarah Jane Studios, where she creates giclée prints, stationery, paper goods, embroidery patterns, paper dolls, puppet theater kits, jewelry, wall decals and wallpaper. She says she “illustrates childhood.”[1]

Wright designs fabrics for Michael Miller Fabrics and illustrates for Harper Collins Children’s Books. Titles she has illustrated include A Christmas Goodnight, French Kids Eat Everything, and Full of Life. She has also illustrated for magazines, such as Parent and Child.

She was raised in North Potomac, Maryland. She has been drawing and creating her entire life. She studied art in high school and attended the Interlochen Arts Camp. At Brigham Young University, she pursued her love of music and earned a bachelor’s of fine art degree in Musical Dance Theatre in 2002. She taught private voice lessons after graduating.

To help pay for her husband's graduate school expenses, and preferring to work at home with her children nearby, she launched her product line on Etsy.com in 2007.

She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wright and her husband, Kenneth, live in Utah with their four children.
