Michael Malm Mormon Artist

Michael Malm is an artist and painter of primarily landscapes and figure paintings. He studied under Del Parson at Dixie College and earned his associate’s degree. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Southern Utah University and then studied under Glen Edwards and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Utah State University. Through many workshops, he has studied under master painters such as Richard Schmid, Burton Silverman, Daniel Gerhartz, Quang Ho, Ron Hicks, Michael Workman, and Jim Norton.

Malm was born in 1972 in Salt Lake City. He and his wife, Juanita, live in Wellsville, Utah, with their four children. He loves rural Utah and often paints old farm communities with grazing animals and wide-open fields. He also paints figures, primarily women, in western landscapes. Malm has also painted a number of religious paintings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which he is a member. Among his many awards, he has won several awards at the Museum of Church History and Art International Art Competitions.
