Jonathan "JJ" Edward Johnson III

Jonathan E. Johnson III is a business executive and community leader. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in Japanese from Brigham Young University. As a Ministry of Education Scholar, he studied at Osaka University of Foreign Studies in Japan. He also received a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU.

He practiced corporate law in Los Angeles with two different international law firms—Graham & James and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He was a judicial clerk at the Utah Court of Appeals for Judge Leonard H. Russon. He is an adjunct faculty member at the BYU J. Reuben Clark Jr. Law School.

He joined TenFold Corporation, a software company, and filled several positions, including General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer. He joined Overstock.com in 2002 and again filled various positions, such as acting chief executive officer, executive vice chairman, chairman of the board of directors, senior vice president, corporate secretary, general counsel, and president.

Johnson is a member of the President’s Leadership Council for BYU-Pathway Worldwide and is an Executive Board Member of Silicon Slopes. He previously sat on the Board of Governors of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce where he served as the Chairman of the Clean Air Task Force. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Utah Technology Council and was a member of the Better Business Bureau’s National Partner Leadership Circle.

He and his wife live in Holladay, Utah, and have five sons and one granddaughter.
