Mormon James R. "Jim" Engebretsen

James R. "Jim" Engebretsen is Executive Chairman of Dynactive Software and a retired finance professor and Assistant Dean for Corporate Relations at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. Jim is an advisor to Soltis Investment Advisors, Knod University, and Zylun Global. Engebretsen was also the main founder of the More Good Foundation.

Engebretsen's motivation for founding the foundation came from his experiences while serving as president of the Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1998 to 2001. During this time he encountered several missionaries who had investigators turn against the Church because of falsehoods they had read about the Church on the internet. He realized there was a need for more positive and accurate information about the Church on the internet.

Prior to serving as a mission president, Engebretsen was president of Waterloo Capital Management. He began his career in investment banking and investment management at Lehman Brothers and Goldman, Sachs in NYC and Philadelphia. He has served on the boards or advisory boards of Farmer Mac, a GSE in Washington DC, Soltis Advisors, Divvypay, Canary Speech, Emmersion Learning and XIO Group, a PE fund in London.

Engebretsen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1955. He served as a missionary in the California Sacramento Mission and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in finance from BYU. He is married to the former Tamera Jones, and they are the parents of six children.

Among other callings in the Church Engebretsen has served as a bishop and a member of a stake high council.
