Paul H. Peterson was a professor of Church history and doctrine at Brigham Young University. He had been a teacher in the Church Educational System his entire career. He also served in the Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies as a administrator and teacher.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in history and English, his master’s degree in Western American history, and his PhD in American history, all from BYU.

Peterson was born in Salt Lake City in 1941 and raised in Bountiful, Utah. He and his wife, Bobbie (Roberta), were the parents of five children. He died on September 3, 2007, of leukemia.
