Gregory A. Schwitzer was sustained a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy on April 4, 2009. Prior to his call, he served as a temple sealer, president of the Russia Yekaterinburg Mission (2005–2007), bishop, bishop’s counselor five times, stake president, high councilor, and, as a young man, full-time missionary in the North German Mission.

Schwitzer was born on April 2, 1948, in Ogden, Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and his MD degree from the University of Utah. He completed his residency and internship at William Beaumont Army Hospital and Fitzsimon’s Army Medical Center, concurrently serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Following that service, he was named assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Utah and later became an emergency medicine physician and then Vice President of Clinical Support Services with Intermountain Healthcare.

He and his wife, Jo Ann, are the parents of five children.
