Bryan Kehl

Bryan Kehl is a retired NFL linebacker who played for the New York Giants, the St. Louis Rams, the Washington Redskins, and the Kansas City Chiefs before becoming s a free agent. He is a former Brigham Young University football star. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and one of the three adopted children of Gary and Nancy Kehl who are biracial (including Ed Kehl). The Kehl family has nine children, six of whom are adopted.

Kehl was born on June 16, 1984, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His black, Catholic biological father was Maurice Turner, then a student at Utah State University. Kehl's biological mother was white and member of the Church. A series of "blessed events" has reunited Kehl with his biological parents (to read more in the Wall Street Journal, click here).

Kehl was originally a fourth round (123rd pick overall) draft choice by the Giants in 2008. He made contributions on both special teams and on defense for the Giants. Kehl was waived by the Giants on September 14, 2010. He was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams on September 15.

Kehl majored in mechanical engineering at BYU, taking two years off to serve an LDS mission for the Church in Toronto, Canada, and eventually earning a bachelor's degree in economics. He also holds a master's degree in finance from Indiana University. At BYU, he was an honorable mention All-Mountain West and Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors recipient. In 2007 as a senior, Kehl received First-team All-Mountain West Conference honors. He was named the team’s defensive MVP, one of the captains, and earned the Strength and Conditioning Award. [1]
