George F. Phillips
George F. Phillips was an educator and administrator. He had charge over the Bear Lake Stake Academy and was a teacher at Brigham Young Academy before becoming principal of Weber Stake Academy (now Weber State University) for one year (1893–1894). Although political disagreements and financial problems at the school caused him to shorten his tenure, he continued as a faculty member for the following year. From 1895 until his death in 1907, he practiced medicine in Wellsville.
Phillips was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 18, 1867. He was educated at the University of Glasgow. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1889. He worked for a time as an associate editor at the Millennial Star, published in England. When he immigrated, he settled in St. Charles, Idaho. He married Agnes Gittens and they had two sons.
