− | Hi Bill, we have just updated the page at http://www.mormonwiki.com/mormonism/Copyrights . We haven't quite decided which formal license we need to use, if we need something formal at all, but we're thinking something along the lines of a BSD/MIT license that allows widespread use of the content with few restrictions. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on licensing and copyright if you have an opinion about them. --Richard 13:30, 16 December 2005 (MST) | + | Hi Bill, we have just updated the page at http://www.mormonwiki.com/mormonism/Copyrights . William Lund's talk page.
Any more info?
So what other info do you have about this wiki. Seems very preliminary - I am thinking of copying and pasting articles from wikipedia (with proper attribution of course) as a starting point for some concepts. What do you think?
I agree with you though - the site seems a little naive about the nature of a wiki - and the lack of information about copyrights is somewhat startling. Trödel 21:18, 15 December 2005 (MST)
- I don't have any more info than what I shared on Wikipedia. Regarding copying articles from Wikipedia, the copyright of Wikipedia permits this (as I recall) as long as there is attribution, as you suggested. Regarding the lack of a copyright, they state on the About page that they may make use of any text found here. Not exactly a copyright statement or a licensing statement, but at least we've been warned. --Bill 07:42, 16 December 2005 (MST)
