Sherri Haab is a freelance illustrator and jewelry and craft designer. She has numerous how-to and do-it-yourself craft books to her credit, including The Incredible Clay Book: How to Make and Bake a Million-and-One Clay Creations (1994), Nail Art (1997), Wire-o-Mania (with Laura Torres, 2000), The Art of Metal Clay (2003), Designer-Style Jewelry Techniques and Projects for Elegant Designs from Classic to Retro (2004), The Art of Resin Jewelry (2006), Jewelry Inspirations: Techniques and Designs from the Artist’s Studio (2009), and Charm Love: Friendship Bracelets (2015). Many of her books are published with Klutz and include equipment to work on projects. Many of her titles have sold over a million copies each. Her books have won numerous awards, including the Parent’s Choice Award and Award of Creative Excellence from Craftrends Magazine.
She was born in 1964 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and raised in Seattle, Washington. She grew to love crafting as she grew up and spent many hours crafting with clay—ceramics, bread dough, plasticine, Play-Doh, and homemade clays. She feels like she is ten again when she works—it feels more like playing.
After Haab married, she worked in a business office to help support her family while her husband finished his degree. When that was accomplished, she started her own business, which seemed to grow slowly, but enabled her to hone her craft and be able to create books to teach children to use the polymer clay she used in her studio.
Haab is a frequent guest on HGTV’s “The Carol Duvall Show.” She has also appeared on “Jewelry TV” on JTV, DIY’s “Jewelry Making,” and “Beads, Baubles, and Jewels” on PBS.
Sherri is a certified metal clay instructor and leads numerous craft and jewelry making workshops internationally. She has been a pioneer in the American Metal Clay revolution since 1996 when it was first introduced in the US. She is known for tracking trends in the craft industry and then educating consumers about how to use new products and techniques.
Haab is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband live in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
