Emily Christensen McPhie is an American artist. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was born in Utah in 1978, the youngest of James and Carole Christensen’s five children. As a child, she toured the museums of the United States and Europe with her family. At each museum, Emily and her brothers and sisters were told they could choose a postcard as a souvenir, and Emily's postcard collection filled with early American portraits and Degas’ studies of young dancers. Emily's paintings show the influence of these museum trips.

Her father, a renowned fantasy artist, also influenced her imagination, although he did not push her toward being an artist. Emily graduated from the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah, and earned her BFA from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in painting.

McPhie considers her art somewhere between her father’s art and that of her sister, artist Cassandra Barney. All three shared an art exhibit, “Curiouser and Curiouser,” at the Springville Museum of Art (Utah) from December 2013 through April 2014. They also worked together on a 2009 exhibit titled, “Hortus Conclusus, or The Enclosed Garden,” which was housed at the Art Access Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Emily currently resides in Chandler, Arizona, with her husband Gavin and three daughters and one son. She says that motherhood has brought out strong emotions and ideas. Her children are also creative, and she shares her studio with them. She takes them to visit museums.

Emily’s original paintings are sold by Terzian Galleries in Park City, Utah, Snow Goose Gallery in Union Mills, Indiana, and on her website.
