Maurine Jensen Proctor is the cofounder and editor in chief of Meridian Magazine, an online magazine primarily for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which she is a member.
Proctor earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and her master’s degree from Harvard University.
She began her writing career at McGraw Hill Magazines and the Chicago Sun-Times and a writer for the Spoken Word broadcast for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 15 years. She wrote for the "You and Your World" weekly radio broadcast that was heard on 350 radio stations throughout the United States. She also created several award-winning documentaries, including "Families are Forever" that played on the VISN network.
With her husband, Scot, she wrote several photographic books, including A Day Like No Other: Joseph Smith and the First Vision; Witness of the Light: A Photographic Journey in the Footsteps of the American Prophet, Joseph Smith; Source of the Light: A Witness and Testimony of Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of All; Light from the Dust: A Photographic Exploration into the Ancient World of the Book of Mormon; and The Gathering: Mormon Pioneers on the Trail to Zion. They published a revised and enlarged edition of the Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt. They edited The Revised and Enhanced History of Joseph Smith by His Mother.
Proctor and her husband have hosted tours to sacred sites worldwide, such as the Holy Land. She taught Institute classes for many years.
The Proctors are the parents of eleven children and live in Alpine, Utah.
