David R. Merrill Mormon Economist

David R. Merrill is an economist, currently Chief Economist for Hitachi Data Systems. He specializes in strategic planning, advanced storage architectures, and storage economics. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Merrill earned a BS degree in computer engineering from Brigham Young University in 1982 and an MBA from California State University.

He has also been global consultant in the Hitachi Data Systems’ organization. He joined HDS in 1996. He was director of technical marketing, professional services practice management and a professional services solution owner for the Enterprise Architecture group. Before HDS, he worked with Amdahl as an open systems technical consultant. He also spent over a decade at Texas Instruments.
