Gary B. Porter is a business executive who was named as the second counselor in the presidency of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in August 2021. He will help Mike Leavitt manage the administrative needs of the organization and help supervise over 700 volunteers.[1]

Porter is currently a senior vice president at Deseret Management Corporation where his responsibilities include human resources, community relations, executive director of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation, and president and CEO of Temple Square Hospitality Corporation.

He was recently named the chairman of the board of governors of the Salt Lake Chamber, Utah’s largest business association.

Porter has served in the Welfare/Self-Reliance Services department and was appointed as secretary to the Presiding Bishopric and served as managing director of the Presiding Bishopric Administrative Services department of the Church. He also served as an Area Seventy.[2]

Porter received both a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and a master's degree in agri-business management from Brigham Young University.
