Lloyd Aldin Porter has been a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since April 4, 1987, when he was called to serve as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. On April 1, 1989, he was transferred to the Second Quorum of the Seventy, where he served until April 6, 1992, when he was sustained as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy once more. He served in the Presidency of the Seventy from August 15, 1992, to August 15, 2001. He was granted emeritus status on October 6, 2001.

Porter was born on June 30, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked in the insurance business with J. Richard Clarke.

He served in various other callings, including missionary in the West Central States Mission, bishop, stake president, regional representative, counselor in the Boise Idaho Temple presidency, stake patriarch in Meridian, Idaho, president of the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission, and president of the Salt Lake Temple.

He and his wife, Shirley, are parents of six children.
