Tanner McKee is a professional football quarterback in the National Football League. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in round 6 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

McKee was born on April 27, 2000, in Irvine, California. He played at Centennial High School in Corona, California. He played in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the 2018 Polynesian Bowl, where he was named MVP. During high school, he was diagnosed with melanoma on his head and went through surgery to remove the cancer and two lymph nodes.[1]

Before playing quarterback in college football at Stanford University, he served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil. He played at Stanford for two years, forgoing his final two seasons to pursue a spot in the NFL. “In two seasons, McKee completed 63.2% of his passes and threw for 5,336 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions on a Cardinal team that struggled and lacked a strong supporting cast around him. “[2]

Prior to the draft, he spent time working out in Southern California with former BYU and NFL quarterback John Beck, who helps run 3DQB, a company that specializes in elite quarterback training.

He and his wife, Lauren, married in June 2022. While at Stanford, he majored in economics.

He is a teammate of fellow Latter-day Saint Britain Covey. The two knew about each other but didn’t meet until 2023 when McKee was drafted by the Eagles. They became fast friends and now spend considerable time together with their wives and as members of the same Latter-day Saint ward in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[3]
