On 4 April 2021, at the 191st Annual General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Cali Colombia Temple. The Cali Colombia Temple will be the country’s third temple and will serve over 15,000 Latter-day Saints.

Colombia is home to around 210,000 Latter-day Saints in nearly 250 congregations. The Bogotá Colombia Temple was dedicated in 1999. The Barranquilla Colombia Temple was dedicated in 2018. On October 6, 2024, President Nelson announced plans to construct a temple in Medellín.
