Boaz is the name of a city briefly mentioned in the Book of Mormon. The city is one of many that Nephites fled to in their final war with the Lamanites.

And they fled again from before them, and they came to the city Boaz; and there they did stand against the Lamanites with exceeding boldness, insomuch that the Lamanites did not beat them until they had come again the second time. (Mormon 4:20)

Having lost the city of Desolation, the Nephites made their next stand at Boaz. They fought fiercely and repelled the Lamanites until the Lamanites came a second time and slaughtered the Nephites, with the women and children being sacrificed to pagan deities.

The Book of Mormon Onomasticon created through Brigham Young University provides a technical discussion of the etymology of the geographical name Boaz. See Book of Mormon Onomasticon, "BOAZ".
