==Responses to Proposition 8==

I left similar to the following statements in the discussion section of Proposition 8.  I think it makes a point that is heavily overlooked. I didn't know where to place it into the article or the best wording on the issue.  Should the American Red Cross be called "bigots" too?  Of course not, but many has stretched truths and used name calling as an excuse.

The American Red Cross does not allow gays to donate blood.  Practicing gays have a tendency to have bad blood.  A screening question for donation reads "If you are a male who has had sex, even once, with another male since 1977." <ref>[http://chapters.redcross.org/az/bloodregion/blooddonqual.htm American Red Cross Blood Donor Qualifications  and Eligibility Information]</ref>  Homosexuality is not only immoral, but is unhealthy.

I have a question... How do I flag a sysop or bureaucrat when it looks like someone is abusing the wiki? I wonder if it is going on right now, and I have no clue what you guys normally do.

I'll try to answer your question. MormonWiki is like Wikipedia, in that anyone can contribute or edit, and we'd like to have as many people as possible doing that. However, MormonWiki does need supervision. We occasionally have vandalism, and a few of our consistent contributors actually keep an eye out for that. I am an assistant editor for More Good Foundation, which launched MormonWiki, and right now, I'm the one exercising the most vigilance over the Wiki. I'm also editing and writing new articles. If you see something wrong and don't know how to fix it, you can email me at [email protected]. I'll either see that it gets fixed, or tell you how to fix it. Did that answer your question? I also click on the item in the menu to the left that says "recent changes." That's how I found your question. I do that often, so if you make an entry like the one you just made, I will find it.Gboyd 18:23, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Got it. I am new to this program and I did not want to act in a way that was against established policy. Thanks Dumbcomputer 03:07, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I just moved the above content onto this talk page to make it easier to find. Hopefully this is okay Gale. --Hakawati 13:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

All good. Also, if you go from the main page toolbox menu, and click on special pages, there's a choice to block a user who's a vandal. You might need sysops authority to do that, but I have it, so you can notify me. Gboyd 18:14, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I added a photograph taken by my son-in-law to illustrate B of M geography. I wasn't sure of what text to use with it so change it if needed. Also there are three volcanoes in Antigua so I may not have named the one in the photo correctly. Rickety 21:25, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I like it. Is there any way to find out if you've got the correct volcano? Maybe the National Geographic website? Gboyd 22:49, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

The volcano looks like this one but then again, all volcanoes look the same to me. I will keep checking. Rickety 03:39, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Derek, who took the photograph, just told me that I have it labeled correctly. Rickety 03:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Great. I've added a request to your usertalk. Hope you have the time to help with this. Gboyd 23:56, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Deleting my own page?

How do I delete a page that I, myself, have created?

I realized their is a better version of it on the site under the wrong name, and so I want to delete my own, allowing me to correct the location of the other.

Which page is it? I can delete it for you.Gboyd 21:22, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Can you help me?

Hi Gboyd,

Excuse me for my bad english, I'm Brazilian.

I see here you are working (maybe) alone here and I understand you are a Admin here too. Maybe you can help me.

I'm working (actually alone, I think) in the WikiMormon Portuguese project. I'm a common user there.

My problem is that:

  • I can't reduce a simple image for a small size using a simple code that I use in Wikipedia.

E.g:

When I use this code

I see that:

JosephSmithPortraitPainting.jpg

(A gray square w/ the text: "Error creating thumbnail: /usr/local/bin/convert: not found", do you see that too?)

In Wikipedia, when I use a code like that (e.g. [[Image:Joseph Smith, Jr. portrait owned by Joseph Smith III.jpg|50px]]) I can see the linked image reduced to 50px (take a look here, or try in the Wikipedia Sandbox if you don't undestand me).

Why this happen?

Can I reduce the image size without using "thumb" code there? (I want a clean image, without that square margin)

Who can fix this?

Thank you for help me and for you patience w/ my bad english.

Your brother,

Franklin Kerber (my portuguese talk page) 17:54, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

I have more questions.
The MormonWiki-PT admins are not working there (I think all of them are not portugese speakers). There are some junk there to clean (that, maybe, the admins don't know because they do not understand the language). How can I do this? Can you do this? Your Admin tools works in WikiMormon-Pt?
Thanks

Hello Franklin! Thanks for your good work. I'm not so technically oriented, so I have passed your requests on to people who can really help you. You will hear from them soon. Gboyd 20:03, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm waiting... But, if you can, respond in my talk page, that's so easy to me know you respond.

Mormon Beliefs: True Church

Hi Gboyd This sentence is very difficult to translate, even for professional translators. Can you make another sentence of it, or can you say it in other words? This sentence The heads of the church must then be revelators, for whom the role of predicting the future is minor compared to receiving revelation for the guidance of the church.

Try this -- "The leaders of the LDS Church must receive revelation for the Church. Most of the revelation they receive is for the guidance of the Church. The role of predicting the future is minor compared to this."
