Law's win-loss record was 162 - 147; his earned run average was 3.77; he threw 1,092 strike-outs, and walked 597 in 2,672 innings. Because of his dedication to his religion, he was nicknamed "Deacon" and "Preacher" by the press and his teammates.  Law has been the pitching coach for Provo High School (PHS) varsity baseball team (PHS is located across the street from BYU where his son is the head coach).

Vernon Sanders Law is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher who spent his entire career with the Pittsburgh Pirates (sixteen seasons, 1950-1951 and 1954-1967. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, sometimes casually called the Mormon Church. Law was born on March 12, 1930, in Meridian, Idaho.
