Rose Datoc Dall Mormon artist

Rose Datoc Dall is a Filipina-American artist who works primarily in contemporary figurative painting and printmaking.

Dall was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in northern Virginia. She took a few high school art classes but primarily taught herself to draw and paint, especially to draw the human figure. In college, she began seriously to paint in oils. She received her bachelor’s of fine art from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 1990.

Some of her work is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City, Utah. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while a sophomore in college. She has won numerous awards, including Purchase Award for “Adorned with Forget-Me-Nots,” from Southern Virginia University Annual Invitational Art Show, 2012; People’s Choice award for “Five That Were Wise,” from the Fulfill the Vision Fine Art Exhibition at the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center, 2011; Purchase Award for “Flight,” at the 8th International Art Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah, 2009; Merit Award at the Art League School Juried Show at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia, 2007.

She enjoys photography, film, stage, theater, dance, music, composing, and voice, and dabbled in all of them at one point.

She and her husband are the parents of four children.
