Alex Sharpe As A Member of Celtic Women

Singing with Celtic Woman was a departure from Sharpe’s musical theater background. She became a temporary member of the ensemble when Lisa Kelly, the founding member, went on maternity leave in 2008. She expected to tour only one year with Celtic Woman, but in 2009 she became a permanent member and toured with them again. She recorded with them on the group’s 2010 CD and DVD Celtic Woman: Songs from the Heart. After the 2010 Songs of the Heart tour, she announced she would leave Celtic Woman to be with her family full-time. She has one son. She rejoined Celtic Women again in May–June 2015 for their tenth-anniversary tour. She covered for one regular member during the first three weeks and another regular member for the last five weeks.

Life After Celtic Women

Since Celtic Woman, Sharpe has performed in the National Concert Hall in Dublin for the annual Christmas event (2010) and again in June 2011 for the Movie Classics concert. In November, she sang in a Musical Show Stoppers concert in Sweden. In December 2012, she returned to the National Concert Hall in Dublin for the Movie Classics, a Christmas Edition concert. She was featured on Jenny Oaks Baker’s 2012 Christmas CD that was arranged and produced by Kurt Bestor.

She also recorded her first solo album Be Still My Soul, which is filled with favorite church hymns and songs and some new songs, including the traditional and heartfelt “His Name,” which is written by a friend from California.

She also performed her first solo concert in Logan, Utah, at the beginning of August 2015. Her album Be Still My Soul is available on iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube.
