Carl Bert Cook is a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sustained to the Presidency of the Seventy on March 31, 2018. He was sustained a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 2, 2011, and had been serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy at the time of his call.
On January 17, 2024, the First Presidency announced that Elder Cook was appointed Senior President of the Presidency of the Seventy, filling the vacancy when Elder Patrick Kearon was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
He was born on October 15, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, and grew up in Plain City, Utah, raised by his mother. He served as a full-time missionary in Hamburg, Germany. He has also served as bishop, stake president, president of the New Zealand Auckland Mission (2005–2008), and Area Seventy.
Cook earned his bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Weber State College and his MBA from Utah State University. He began his career with the Xerox Corporation and then moved into commercial real estate development as a partner with The Boyer Company.
Cook and his wife, Lynette, are the parents of five children.
