Matt Chatterley Mormon Artist

Matt Chatterley is a commercial artist who has illustrated for newspapers and magazines for more than twenty years, predominantly as a graphic artist for the Arizona Republic and art director at the Des Moines (Iowa) Register. He completed projects for the advertising industry. He was commissioned by the National Park Service, the Iowa Mormon Trails Association, and the Nebraska Trails Association to create drawings depicting the Mormon pioneer trek across Iowa and Nebraska during 1846 and 1847.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in art and design and his MFA degree in painting and drawing from Brigham Young University.

He has also completed work for the advertising industry, and has written and illustrated children’s books and poetry. He is also a fine artist painting landscapes, still lifes, and figures working in oils, watercolors, and charcoal.
