Linda Bement was a model and beauty queen. She competed in the Miss Utah USA pageant in 1960, just after she graduated from high school, and won, sending her to the Miss USA pageant, which she also won. She then was crowned Miss Universe 1960; she was the third Miss USA to be crowned Miss Universe, and the second woman from Utah to be crowned Miss USA.
Bement was born on November 2, 1941, in Salt Lake City, the only child of Charles and Elaine Bement. After her reign, she taught future beauty pageant contestants modeling and essentials to succeed. She was a goodwill ambassador as she traveled and mentored young women.
She was married to Manuel Ycaza, U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey from Panama. They were the parents of two children. They divorced in 1969. She later married Rob Sharp, but they later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She passed away in her Salt Lake City home on March 19, 2018.
