Emily Vidmar Day is a former university-level gymnast. She is the daughter of Olympic medalist Peter Vidmar and his wife, Donna Vidmar, who was an elite gymnast at UCLA. Emily is the only one of their five children who has pursued the sport, although all of the Vidmar children began gymnastics at a young age.
While in middle school, Emily competed at an elite gym, Gym-Max, in California. She advanced to level 10 her sophomore year in high school, which is the highest level before junior and senior competition (senior level being Olympic level). During her sophomore year In high school, she decided against elite gymnastics and instead switched to Wildfire Gymnastics, a club focused on college gymnastics. Her parents were supportive of her decision.
Emily attended Brigham Young University with a full-ride scholarship and competed on the BYU women’s gymnastics team on beam, floor, and bars. She competed in the NCAA Regionals during her freshman and sophomore years. She was named to the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference All-Academic Team in 2016.
She also earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She later received a registered nursing degree from the University of Utah in the accelerated registered nursing program. In January 2018 she began working at Primary Children’s Hospital in the pediatric and cardiac intensive care units.
She married Hamilton Day in April 2016. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
