Chris Lybbert is professional rodeo cowboy and has competed as a roper and steer wrestler. He qualified for the National Finals Rodeo eight times in tie-down roping (1979–84, 1986, 1989) and five times in steer wrestling (1979–80, 1982–83, 1986). He won his first world title in the all-around category in 1982. In 1986 he won a world title in tie-down roping.

Lybbert was a consistent roper and steer wrestler can captured back-to-back National Finals Rodeo (NFR) average titles in tie-down roping (1980–81) and steer wrestling in 1982. He won the California Circuit tie-down roping title four times (1978–80, 1982) and the steer wrestling title in 1979. He continued to collect titles when he began competing in the Texas Circuit, including the tie-down roping title and the all-around.

He was born on March 14, 1954, in Ephrata, Washington. He was raised on the Coyote Ranch in Coyote, California. He attended Hartnell College in Salinas, California, and Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

Lybbert was induced into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in the all-around in 2006. He has been a member of the PRCA since 1976. He was the first PRCA cowboy to earn six figures in one year prior to the NFR. In 1982 he was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame of the Rodeo Historical Society.

He appeared in the 1999 film ‘’Gunfighter.’’
