Lynn R. Carson is a Latter-day Saint composer and hymn writer. He also served for several years as the director of Asian, Indian, and Middle-Eastern genealogical record-gathering and oral family history projects for the Family History Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carson served as a missionary in Austria for the Church of Jesus Christ.

Carson was born on January 1, 1942. He wrote the music to the hymns "In Fasting We Approach Thee” (#139) and “Sabbath Day” (#148), which are in the 1985 Hymns of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carson also wrote the book The Tintic War and the Deaths of George and Washington Carson.
