Steven R. Bangerter was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2018, at General Conference. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah South Area. He has also served as an Area Seventy, stake president, bishop, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, and full time missionary in the Canada Vancouver Mission.
Bangerter was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Max E. and Thelma R. Bangerter on July 29, 1961. He grew up in Granger, Utah. He received a bachelor of arts degree in religious studies from Arizona State University in 1989. In 1993, he received a juris doctor degree from the Western State University College of Law. He then practiced law from 1993 to 2003 and became managing partner for Bangerter Frazier & Graff, PC. His legal career has focused on representing churches and other faith-based organizations.
He and his wife, Susann, are the parents of six sons.
