Kathleen Peterson Mormon Artist

Kathleen Peterson is an artist who works in oil, watercolor, batik, and clay. She has illustrated several books, including A World of Faith, The Stones of the Temple, Girls Who Choose God, and Moon Mangoes.

Peterson was born in 1951 in Provo, Utah. She has lived throughout the world, including the Virgin Islands, Malaysia, Central America, and Southeast Asia. She now lives in Spring City, Utah, with her husband, Steve. They are the parents of four adult children and live on an 80-acre farm with horses, chickens, cats, and ducks, and a dog.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in commercial art from Brigham Young University and continued to study at the University of Hawaii and Snow College. She is a popular elementary school art teacher and was instrumental in the creation and sustaining of the Central Utah Art Center where she and other artists teach and exhibit their work.

Along with artists Lee Udall Bennion and Brian Kershisnik, her paintings were featured in the Church History Museum exhibit “Practicing Charity: Everyday Daughters of God” from February to October 2014. Eleven of her oil paintings depicting strong women in the scriptures were exhibited in the Conference Center for October 2014 General Conference.
