If you have not written on the web before, MormonWiki is a great place to learn. We have a number of members who improved their writing and boosted their confidence while at the same time contributed to placing more good content on the Internet.

You can write a few sentences, or even a complete article about the Church and its members.

You are in a safe environment. MormonWiki contributors are friendly and helpful to others.

Writing only a sentence can help. Another member can add to your beginning and perhaps write a paragraph. Another member may correct spelling and improve grammar. Yet another person will perhaps add another paragraph. Someone else will link to another relevant page. Another day you may return and add some more text to the article that began with "only" one sentence. This is exciting stuff, to see what you started grow into a full article. If you are not sure about a contribution you want to add to an existing article, click on the discussion tab and write something like this, "I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to add an explanation about the church organization after the second paragraph, what do you think?"

Each page on MormonWiki has an "edit" tab. If you want to change something on the page, click the "edit" tab, and MormonWiki will display an editing screen. When you make changes, click on "Show Preview" and you can review your changes and alter them if desired. Click "Save page" to have your work displayed on MormonWiki.

MormonWiki takes care of the technical stuff for you. You only need to learn a few rules that make MormonWiki formatting easy to write and read by real people.

If you make a mistake, Mormonwiki has the previous version and will let you revert to an older version of a page. MormonWiki will even let you compare changes you have made to your page over time.

MormonWiki lets you link to pages that don't yet exist. Click on a link that points to a nonexistent page, and MormonWiki will ask you for initial content to put in the page. If you submit some initial content, Mormonwiki will create the page. All links to that page (not just the one you clicked) will now point to the newly-created page.

To make a link to another page, type the name of the page and MormonWiki will make the link for you. MormonWiki knows about every page you have and about every link to another page you make. You don't have to remember the location of files.

MormonWiki is a collaborative community. Anyone, once registered, is allowed to click the "edit" tab and change a page. While this may seem disconcerting at first, after awhile most people appreciate and rely on others to review their work and make changes that improve an article for the common good of everyone that will read and write on MormonWiki.
