Samuel Williams was an early member of the church mentioned in the [[Doctrine and Covenants]]. He was born March 22, 1789, in Russell, Massachusetts. Williams was living in Kirtland when the saints began to arrive. He converted to the Church and followed a group to Missouri. His time there was brief, as he was forced to flee the state on account of the religious persecution.
