Torgesen Murdock Mormon Artist

Torgesen Murdock is a modern impressionistic painter from Pocatello, Idaho. She was born on a ranch in Soda Springs, Idaho. She took her first art class during her last year of high school, but went on to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Utah State University. She studied for a month in 2002 under impressionist Igor Vademovich Petrov at the Repin Academie in St. Petersburg, Russia. She has also studied with Alvin Gittins of the University of Utah, Joseph Mugnaini of Otis in Los Angeles, and other notables, such as Gaell Lindstrom, Adrian Van Suchtlan, Harrison Groutage, Ovanes Berberian, and Harley Brown. She predominantly works in oils, but has worked with watercolors, pastels, and graphite.

She won the grand prize for landscapes at the International Artist Magazine Challenge for her painting of the Dolomites mountain range located in northeastern Italy, part of the Alps. She was featured in the December 2014/January 2015 issue of International Artist Magazine and a four-page spread in American Art Collector’s December 2014 issue.
