Marin Leggat Roper is a modern dancer, choreographer, and movement educator. She founded and directed the M.E.L.D. Danceworks in New York City. The mission of the company was to “dissolve religious and cultural differences through the art of dance.”[1]

In addition to teaching at the George Washington University Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, she has taught and performed throughout New York City and the northeast and was a US cultural envoy to India and Sri Lanka where she choreographed and taught. She taught at Bingham High School in Salt Lake City and Ohio Wesleyan University. She has conducted international workshops, presentations, and residencies in Bangalore, Taipei, and Phnom Penh. She was a contributing author to Dance Education Around the World: Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology teaching and dance education from Brigham Young University. She taught dance at BYU. She received her MFA from the University of Utah and holds certification in Laban Movement Analysis through Integrated Movement Studies. She serves on the board of directors of SALT Contemporary Dance Company and regularly choreographs for musical theater.

She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband and son live in Arkansas.
