Tim Slover is a university professor, playwright, and screenwriter. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in English language and literature from the University of Michigan.
Slover a member of the University of Utah’s Theatre Studies Program faculty, and teaches courses in playwriting and dramatic literature. He also directs the Theatre, Fine Arts, and Humanities in London Learning Abroad Program and leads Continuing Education’s Go Learn: London on Stage tour.
His works have been produced off-Broadway and in professional regional and university theaters throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His writing awards include the Grand Prize, 65th Annual Writers Digest Writers Awards; the Christopher Brian Wolk Award for Playwriting Excellence; a Cine Golden Eagle; a Freedoms Foundation George Washington Honor Medal; and a Hopwood Award for Best Play. He was also a finalist for a Television Arts and Sciences Community Service Emmy.
His play "A March Tale" won the Association for Mormon Letters Award for Drama in 1995. Among his many plays is Dreambuilder, Scales, and God's Fisherman, a play about Wilford Woodruff (with James Arrington). His work Joyful Noise about George Handel composing the Messiah, was first performed in 1998 at BYU and later by the Lamb’s Players Theatre in San Diego, California. He wrote the script for the film Minerva Teichert: A Mission in Paint. He was nominated for an Emmy award for A More Perfect Union: American Becomes A Nation, which aired on PBS. He is also the author of the book The Christmas Chronicles: The Legend of Santa Claus.
He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
