Darrell Spencer is the author of one novel (One Mile Past Dangerous Curve), five fictional works, and four short story collections: A Woman Packing a Pistol; Our Secret’s Out; Caution: Men in Trees (awarded the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction); and Bring Your Legs with You (winner of the Drue Heinz Literature Prize).
Spencer earned his PhD from the University of Utah. He taught at Ohio University for twenty years and now teaches creative writing at Southern Utah University. He has also taught at Brigham Young University, Antioch University, and Vermont College.
He and his wife, Kate Clark-Spencer, live in St. George. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
