Brian Mathias is a Tabernacle Organist on Temple Square, appointed on January 22, 2018. Mathias will perform daily organ recitals and perform with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in telecasts, recordings, tours, concerts and other appearances.
Prior to his appointment, Mathias was a faculty member at Brigham Young University and an adjunct professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He served as associate organist at Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
He has performed as a solo artist at the Tabernacle, the Conference Center, the Cathedral of the Madeleine (all in Salt Lake City;, the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC; and BYU-Idaho and Texas A&M International University. He has competed in a number or prestigious international organ competitions.
Mathias holds a doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Kansas. He earned bachelor of music and master of music degrees from BYU.
