Jayne Broadbent Malan was a former member of the general presidency of the Young Women organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, both as First Counselor (1987–1992) and Second Counselor (1985–1987) to Ardeth G. Kapp.
She was born on April 18, 1924, in Heber City, Utah. She was raised in Salt Lake City where she attended East High School and the Stewart Training School at the University of Utah. During the summers she lived on the family ranch near Evanston, Wyoming. She graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in drama. She was a freelance writer, author, playwright, and producer.
She married Terry Malan on August 28, 1947, and they were the parents of two children. Her husband was the PGA tournament supervisor and she worked alongside him as field secretary and press representative. She was also a member of the Salt Lake and Wilmington, North Carolina, chapters of the Junior League and a national delegate to its convention.
Jayne served in the Church of Jesus Christ in a variety of capacities. She was a member of two Young Women general boards, a member of the Relief Society general board, wrote and produced several broadcasts of Music and the Spoken Word, and served as a missionary on Temple Square with her husband.
She passed away on March 16, 2013.
