Jorge Eduardo Torres Becerra was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2020, at age 57. At the time of his call, he had been serving as an Area Seventy and a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah Area.
Becerra served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the California Arcadia Mission, ward Young Men president, counselor in a mission presidency, counselor in a branch presidency, seminary teacher, counselor in a bishopric, bishop, and stake president. He served as president of the California Arcadia Mission from 2011 to 2014.
He was born on December 18, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He pursued a degree in general studies from the University of Utah. He obtained an associate of arts degree in accounting from Salt Lake Community College and studied business at the University of Phoenix.
He then became a partner at Allegis Advisor Group, a financial advisory company. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he had been working as an investment adviser for Intermountain Financial Partners.
Becerra and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of five children.
