Omni's record is recorded over several years, between 323 B.C. and 319 B.C. or essentially, as he marks it, 282 years since the family of Lehi had arrived in the promise land. He makes a small annotation at the beginning of the book of Omni where he tells of the many wars he fought as a [[Nephite]] against the [[Lamanites]]. He also confesses that he is a wicked man.
