West Ridge Academy is located in West Jordan, Utah, and provides addiction recovery and treatment for young men and women. Senior missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church may give service there.
West Ridge has two separate sets of facilities, one for young men and one for young women. The facilities include cottages, school facilities, administration, treatment offices, commercial kitchens, cafeterias, and athletic facilities. The entire center is located on 88 acres near the Oquirrh Mountains in west Salt Lake valley.
Treatment is not only aimed at the young person, but in helping to build relationship connections within the supporting family. Each family is assigned a full-time therapist.
- "[Youth] will learn new coping skills and moral and spiritual values that will propel them into a more functional and peaceful way of life. These changes are miraculous to see and the reason why we love what we do at West Ridge Academy."
The therapeutic program is holistic in approach, encompassing the treatment of mental, physical and spiritual problems. Accountability is emphasized in the troubled youth.
- "Appropriate candidates are adolescent males and females, ages 9-17, with a history of soft to moderate emotional and behavioral problems, low self-esteem, academic underachievement, substance abuse and family conflict." [1]
