Titus Ashby, known as Trick Shot Titus, is a two-year-old Internet sensation (2013). The most recent YouTube video to go viral features him shooting baskets with megastars Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper.
In February 2013, Trick Shot Titus’s dad, Joseph Ashby, posted a YouTube video of Titus sinking baskets from about anywhere. The video accumulated more than 11 million views. And that was just the beginning.
Since that first video, Titus has appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the “Today Show,” and “Good Morning America.” He has outshot NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal on national television. The TV show “El Hormiguero,” based in Spain, invited Titus to appear and take on both Tatum and Cooper. Titus beat Tatum 14-5 and Cooper 14-8. Titus’s dad asked them to be part of his next video. The video shows both actors holding Titus while they discuss their losses.
The video also shows Titus’s family — including three older siblings — cheering for him each time he shoots. It also features Titus during a Wichita State University basketball game where he was invited to shoot on the 10-foot hoop. He received a standing ovation from the crowd when he made the shot, which has head coach Gregg Marshall keeping an eye on him.
Titus also stars in a national TV commercial for Sprint, which was part of their 2013 March Madness marketing.
His mom, Kristin Ashby, says that Titus loves balls and spends about 90 percent of his playtime shooting them.
The Ashby family belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lives in Kansas.
