Matthew H. Tueller is an American diplomat who was nominated by President Barack Obama as the United States Ambassador to Yemen in January 2014. Tueller is currently the Ambassador to Kuwait, a post he has filled since 2011.

Tueller is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. His first assignment was in Washington, D.C., as Egypt Desk Officer. Also in Washington, he filled the post of Deputy Director in the Office of Northern Gulf Affairs. He has served oversees as Political Officer at the embassies in Kuwait, Jordan, and London, England. He served as Consular Officer in Jordan, and Deputy Chief of Mission at the embassy in Doha, Qatar, and Cairo, Egypt. He was also Political Minister Counselor at Embassy Baghdad, Political Counselor at Embassy Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. As Chief of the U.S. Office in Aden, Yemen, he oversaw the inter-agency investigation into the October 2000 terrorist bombing of the USS Cole.

Although native to Utah, he grew up in Europe, North Africa, and Latin America. He lived in Tangier, Morocco, for four years while his father, Blaine Tueller, was a Foreign Service officer. He also lived in Spain when he served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tueller received his BA from Brigham Young University in International Relations and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Tueller and his wife, DeNeece, have five children and are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
