Lee Bennion Mormon artist

Lee Udall Bennion is an American painter. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bennion was born on March 17, 1956, in Merced, California. She left home in 1974 to study art at Brigham Young University. She married in 1976 and returned to BYU in 1983 to finish her education. She earned a BFA in painting in 1986.

She primarily paints figures, but also paints landscapes and still life, concentrating on form, color, and feelings. She also creates cards and bookmarks.

Bennion frequently participates in workshops and presentations for artists and educators. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the Utah Arts Council.

Her work is sold through David Ericson Fine Art in Salt Lake City. Many art museums and private collectors own her paintings. She has been featured in several articles in national art publications, including Southwest Art.

Bennion loves horses and has a horse stable in addition to her art studio and a print-making shop. She created a side business, Mom’s Stuff, which markets natural handmade salve.

Bennion’s husband, Joseph, is a world-renowned potter, and they live in Spring City, Utah. They are the parents of three daughters.
