Holly Richardson Mormon Political Blogger

Holly Richardson is a conservative political blogger and former member of the Utah House of Representatives for District 57. She was appointed on January 31, 2011, by Governor Gary R. Herbert after a special election was held after it was determined that the incumbent representative was living outside the district boundaries and he resigned. A map of the district misled him and about 2,500 residents of that district.

Richardson served in that position for about one year, resigning on January 6, 2012, to work on Dan Liljenquist’s campaign for U.S. Senate. She was a candidate for the district in 2014 but was defeated at the Republican convention.

Her award-winning blog, “Holly on the Hill,” reflects her interest and activity in the Republican Party. Besides state representative, she has been a precinct chair; legislative district chair; county and state delegate; State Central Committee member; and campaign volunteer, communications director, and manager. In May 2013, she was recognized for her dedication with the “Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Service,” awarded by GOP state party chairman Thomas Wright. Governor Herbert nominated Richardson and the Utah Senate confirmed her for her current appointment on the State Records Committee.

Richardson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband, Greg, are the parents of 24 children (20 adopted). She graduated as a registered nurse from Brigham Young University and later obtained a degree in midwifery. She was an adjunct professor in the College of Nursing at BYU. She was also president of the Midwives’ College of Utah for two years.
