Spencer V. Jones is a former General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy from October 2002 until October 2010. During his service as a General Authority, he served as president of the Central America Area during which time he presided over the groundbreaking of the Panama City Panama Temple and the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple.

Jones was born on September 17, 1945, in Safford, Arizona, and was reared in Virden, New Mexico. He attended Eastern Arizona Junior College, the Church College of Hawaii (now BYU-Hawaii) then earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Brigham Young University. His career spanned ranching, manufactured housing, and furniture retailing. He was a business owner for many years in Gallup, New Mexico.

He served in many callings in the Church, including bishop and high councilor. He presided over the Chile Antofagasta Mission from 1994 to 1997 and was an area authority seventy. He served as president of the New Mexico Farmington Mission from July 2010 until July 2012. As a young man he served a full-time mission in the Argentina North Mission.

Jones and his wife, Joyce, are the parents of three children.
